Having already touched on the cost of lawyers and the psychological cost of divorce, let us turn to the physical cost.    The toll divorce takes is not usually considered until well into the proceedings and it is too late to reverse the trend.  All a person can do is to seek help and keep taking a step in the right direction.  Sometimes it seems like you take one-step forward and two backward.

What is the value one places on physical health?  While those engaging in divorce proceedings are struggling to retain some semblance of control, their body is actually suffering.  They don't eat or sleep according to known or expected patterns.  Their bodies began to react with high blood pressure readings, skin irritations, muscle tension and pain.  They develop head ache, stomach disorders and eye pains.  

Many deaths can be due to the stressfulness experienced during divorce.  They may drink excessively.  They may loose their ability to perform ordinary task at home and on the job.  They may loose weight while others may gain weight to excess.

The divorce that is lengthy will take a greater toll on both parties, but the party with the least amount of funds is at the mercy of the court and the lawyers.  Often lawyers fail to recognize the need to inform their client.  The client may have questions that their lawyer should be able to answer but the question and the answer will increase the fees charged.

All this can permanently damage the health of an ordinarily healthy person.  As the divorce continues and drags on the damage continues to grow.  An ordinarily healthy person is transformed into a physically, emotionally and financially ill person.
