The New Year has arrived and we celebrated its arrival in a number of ways.  Some of us partied till midnight and other partied till they dropped.  The sensible and frugal ones of us joined friends until a reasonable hour for friendship, food and games before returning home to watch the New Year come in on TV.  

As the Time Square Ball dropped in New York and other displays of fireworks and spectacular scenes were enjoyed across the nation and actually throughout the world the New Year began.  Some made New Years Resolutions and broke them before the first hour of the year was over.  Others planned their resolution or resolutions well in advance, giving them much thought and determination to keep them.  

Some resolutions are self-improvement in type and some reach across the board and encompass a relationship.  While self-improvements can also improve relationships the resolutions that are truly reaching to make a relationship better are the resolutions that you will have to work harder to keep.

While many resolve to stop smoking or drinking others may resolve to keep expenditures within the budget.  There is nothing good about a person or family that over spends their income.  Keeping your “wanter/spender” under control can help your self-esteem.  Don’t underestimate its value.

Some people need attitude adjustments or personality improvements.  Each time a person feels the need to apologize, perhaps is an indication that this issue needs to be addressed.  This borders on being in the realm of relationships even though it is self-improvement.

What ever your New Year resolutions are, commit to keeping them and make your life and the life of those your befriend, love and care about much more pleasant.  Happy New Year, take and keep control of your life.
