Pools surrounded by trees will have
leaves that must be removed regularly. Many pool owners choose to
enclose their pools to limit pool maintenance of this sort. A large part of pool maintenance is algae control and removal of other debris.
A pool that has algae must be brushed and heavily chlorinated to kill the algae. The pool will turn so green that you cannot see through the water. Close the skimmer and let the main drain pull everything to the bottom. This may take a day or two or even longer. Run your pump 24/7. Once the algae has settled to the bottom you will need to vacuum it out to WASTE. Add Water & Move Slowly Before you began any vacuum job, add water even with or above the top of the skimmer. Keep the water running in the pool. Place the hose in the pool opposite the return valveslop you should be able to move it either direction. You must remember to MOVE THE BRUSH HEAD SLOWLY. If the water level gets below the skimmer your hose could collapse and the pump will loose its prime. It is best to vacuum when the wind does not disturb the water. Any
motion will distort your view of the brush head and you will not be
able to judge if you are removing the algae. A bright sun will also hamper your ability to view the bottom. The sun can create a glare, making it impossible to work swiftly. The best time of the day to vacuum is early morning or late afternoon. A sparkling clean pool is an asset and the family will enjoy the benefits resulting from regular exercise. All family members of every age will benefit from swimming regularly. |
