The U.S. does needs Texas and most all of the articles found on this website verify that America would loose more than Texas, should Texas make a choice to secede from the union.  The possibility of that happening is slim.  One in five independent Texans does not favor any such action.  Gov. Perry threw Texans the bone of secession at one of the anti tax tea parties he attended.

This state that is bordered by Mexico provides oil for Texans and a portion of oil for other U.S. states.  It has agricultural products and the oil fields provide many jobs.  Texas could possibly benefit from secession economically.  Texas has on of the best economies and wealthy statesmen like T. Boone Pickens, Chuck Norris, and George W. Bush.
