When I first read “Help for New Mommies” I thought the contest was between the baby and another young child. I quickly realized the contest was between the mother and the new born. Angry, sad and crying are indications of postpartum depression and surely an indication that treatment is needed.
Weight gain, the need for more sleep and avoiding contact with friends and family are indications that this new mother is in trouble. She needs help and must ask for it, if it is not freely offered. Medications may be required if the new mothers state of mind does not improve.
