Life just begins for some people, when they retire.  When restaurants first began offering discounts for seniors, many were offended.  Seniors gradually got used to it and now wear it as a badge.  Retirement comes much earlier in life for today’s senior than it did for their mom and dad.  The philosophy of their parents was probably the old cliché “there is nothing certain but death and taxes”.  

Seniors look forward to being an active retiree.  They enjoy group activities usually sponsored by a church, the Rotary Club or the city recreation department.  They often volunteer at hospitals. Individual activities that engage some are stamp collecting, crossword puzzles, needlework or learning to use the computer.
