Water skiing can be very strenuous for a beginner.  During the time the ski line is getting taunt the skier has to fight the water.  The skies don’t make this easy. The knee bent position is correct for coming out of the water. Extended arms with hands spread wide holding the triangular line handle is important.  The quick rise from the water may take the beginner several efforts to master.  

Safety issues mentioned are two people in the boat, running parallel to the shore and daylight skiing only.
