Don’t Try to Do Everything

A clean house is easy if everyone does his or her share.  Clothing and personal objects should be the responsibility of each individual.  If you have been trying for the "super-mom" title you may find this a bit difficult.  You may have been accustomed to doing everything for everyone.  As children grow and mature it is important that they learn to take responsibility for themselves.

You may find it easier to clean in the absence of the family.  Large families are seldom gone all at the same time.  Do your floors in their absence.  Do your tidying up in a way that works quickly.  Take items left in a room that don’t belong there to the room where they do belong.  While there do any job you can while you are there.  Any items that belong in an entirely different location will identify your next stop.  Continue this method until you have completed tidying you home.  You may find that you will be returning to some locations more than once.

Children learn responsibility when they are given an opportunity.  They need to be praised for accomplishments.  Give them regular task that they alone are responsible for.  They will enjoy the feeling of having done a thing well.

It is so much easier for me to clean up after my children than it is for me to get them to do it. I now find myself with a bunch of lazy kids. I need to teach them the value of work and helping out around the house.
