Packaging Practices for Consumer Products

Do manufacturers ever consider what the customer wants when they plan how products are packaged? I would like the products I purchase and use a lot to be economical and easy to open and close. The new cans that do not require a can opener are not consumer friendly for the aged. The reseal packaging products often are destroyed in their opening process. Where is the economy in that? Packaging with enough extra inside wrapping would allow the consumer to better store the balance of the package content for future use.
Then there are those items packaged in those more than difficult to open wrappers or heavier plastic. You need wire cutters practically to open them. What of the canisters that are designed to reseal pool products and such? I always require the store clerk to open those types of products “in store”. The problem with that is it could overturn on the trip home.
You know all those care of fabric tags in the neck of all clothing tops? Don’t they aggravate you beyond endurance? They scratch or constantly hang out or stick up and they are printed too small to read.
Wouldn’t it be nice if manufactures took some of this into consideration before they spent all that time and money on marketing? They could look at how to save the consumer dollars before changing the way they market their successful products. Newly designed packages of tried and true items are the ruin of many recipes that once were easily prepared. The consumer is not fooled. Compare the price and the total weight to the previous method of packaging and it is clear that the prices are higher and the weight is reduced. Thus putting more money in the manufacture’s pocket.
